LMTV at Oak Ridge is an extracurricular activity open to all Oak Ridge students. It meets in the television studio, in the Media Center.
The broadcast is shown to the students each Monday morning.
In addition to providing timely information to the school, the students are also discovering the basics of performing in front of a camera, along with proper speaking and presentation techniques. The students have the opportunity to learn video editing and audio mixing skills as they assemble the finished broadcast.
It’s a great start for students with an eye toward a career in business, public relations, communications, the performing arts and more!
Many LMTV Middle School students have gone on to compete in Contest Speech at the High School level. The Iowa High School State Speech Association (IHSSA) hosts statewide contests in the multimedia categories of TV Broadcasting, Radio Broadcasting and Short Film.
Students with questions about LMTV at Oak Ridge should stop by the Oak Ridge Media Center. Teacher-Librarian Stephanie Cornell can provide recording times and additional information.
