Linn-Mar High School Student On-Campus Parking Information for 2023-24
Only vehicles with the proper parking tag will be permitted in these lot areas from 8:45 a.m.-2:45 p.m. on a day classes are in session at LMHS. Specific parking lot designations will NOT be made this year. Vehicles without a current LMHS Parking Tag will be permitted to park on campus.
12th-11th Grade Parking: 12th and 11th Grade students with a current and visible LMHS parking tag during each school day may park in any non-LRC, non-district designated, or non-visitor designated parking spaces on campus.
10th Grade Parking: 10th Grade students who are granted, via lottery, a current and visible LMHS parking tag during each school day may park in any non-LRC, non-district designated, or non-visitor designated parking spaces on campus.
9th Grade Parking: No parking is available during the school day for 9th Grade students.
Any student wishing to park on campus during the 2023-24 school year must register their vehicles and display a current LMHS Parking Tag during any school day. Any student with outstanding fines will NOT be able to receive a parking tag. Parking tags are not transferable or refundable.
Starting Wednesday, August 9, 12th and 11th Grade students may pay for their parking tag at the Cashier’s window and give the receipt along with their completed parking form to the Dean’s Office.
The 10th Grade Parking Lottery Form will be viewed and accepted starting Wednesday, Aug 9, in the Dean’s Office. You must present your school permit to enter the lottery along with your completed form. Learner’s permits are not valid for the parking lottery. The deadline to enter the 10th Grade Parking Lottery is Monday, August 14, at 12:00 p.m.
Results of the 10th Grade Parking Lottery will be posted on Tuesday, August 15, after 10:00 a.m. 10th Grade students getting a license or school driving permit may still have their name added to the original lottery list after August 15. The list may be used to issue additional parking tags as determined that space is available throughout the school year.

Why is there a limit to the number of parking tags distributed?
For safety reasons, the number of students searching for a parking spot must be limited. As the number of requests has increased, up to 1600 or more student drivers were searching for a spot within about 900 spaces and often parking illegally. This caused significant issues with access to emergency vehicles.
How do I register my vehicle for a parking tag?
12th and 11th Grade students need to pay the cashier $25.00 and bring their receipt and completed parking form to the Dean’s Office. Tags will be distributed between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. each day starting on Wednesday, August 9.
10th Grade students may bring in their school permit and lottery form to the Dean’s Office starting August 9.
All parking forms must be signed by both the student and a parent/guardian.
What information do I need to register my vehicle?
You will need your correct vehicle and license plate information (for any vehicle you may drive to school), as well as your school permit or driver’s license number to register a vehicle. A learner’s permit is NOT a valid license for the parking lottery.
When do I have to register my vehicle, so it is in the 10th Grade Parking Lottery?
The last day to enter the 10th Grade Parking Lottery is by 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023. After this date,
students may still submit their vehicle information to be added to the waitlist at any point during the year.
Parking tags will be issued as tags become available.
When will the 10th Grade Parking Lottery be held?
The 10th Grade Parking Lottery will take place on Tuesday, August 15.
The list of 10th Grade Parking Lottery winners will be posted online after 10:00 a.m.
How will the 10th Grade Parking Lottery be conducted so that it is fair to everyone who is registered?
Names and information will be entered into a spreadsheet. The information will be randomly sorted, and a number will be assigned to each student who enters the lottery. A Student Council member will be present as a witness.
If I win a parking tag in the 10th Grade Parking Lottery, where do I pick it up and when do I pay?
Pay $25.00 at the Cashier’s window near Door #13 and take your receipt to the Dean’s Office to receive your tag. You may purchase your tag as soon as the results are posted. Tags will be distributed between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. each day in the Dean’s Office. Students must purchase parking tags prior to parking in the lot on Thursday, August 24. Please note; The cashier’s office is closed Friday, August 18th.
When will parking tag enforcement really begin?
Tag enforcement will begin at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, August 24.
I just moved here after the lottery, and all the parking tags have been issued, what do I do?
You may still register to park on campus. As tags become available, you may have the opportunity to purchase one.
What if I have multiple vehicles that I might drive on different days?
If all vehicles are registered to the student, the tag may be moved to any of those vehicles. Please keep in mind the tag
must always be displayed during the school day for whichever registered vehicle you are driving.
If I come to early practice, rehearsal, or a meeting, when do I have to be off the lot if I do not have a parking tag?
Students without tags may park in the lot in the morning prior to school. Vehicles must be out of the lot by 8:45 a.m.
Where do I park if I do not have a parking tag?
Street parking is available west of the high school on 9th, 8th, & 7th, etc. Streets. Students are not allowed to park in the LRC/Compass parking lot, apartments nearby, or business parking lots. Any students who park in LMHS Visitor Parking or LRC Parking will receive a parking violation of $25.00.
What if the lot has a lot of open spaces? Can’t I park on campus if everyone who has a parking tag can do so?
No, you must have a 2023-2024 parking tag to park on the LMHS campus. Open spots will be re-assessed during the year and additional parking tags may become available. We do expect to lose a few parking spaces in late spring due to construction on the west side of campus. This will mean fewer additional parking tags will be issued after the lottery.
What if I park on campus anyway, without a parking tag?
Students will incur a $25 fine for each violation, possible removal/towing of vehicle from campus.
What are the hours that the parking tags will be enforced each day?
8:45 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.
We now have more parking spaces on campus with the addition of the lot at 10th St. and Tower Terrace Road. Does this mean there is no longer a need for a 10th Grade Parking Lottery?
No. While the new lot will allow a significant number of 10th Grade students to park on campus it will not allow for all 10th Grade students to park on campus. Thus, the need to continue the 10th Grade Parking Lottery.
Why do we have a need for a parking tag?
To improve parking lot safety, emergency vehicle access, and orderly student parking, the number of parking tags must
be limited to only the number of spots available. To ensure equity and enforceability, a fee was determined.
Can I sign up for the parking lottery if I do not have a school permit or driver’s license?
No. You can be added to the 10th Grade Parking Lottery list/waitlist once the school permit or driver’s license is obtained.
