Suicide Prevention at LMHS
Linn-Mar High School uses the Signs of Suicide (SOS) program to promote suicide prevention among students and make them aware of the signs of depression. SOS calls on students to ACT:
- A- acknowledge that there is a problem
- C- let the person know you care
- T- tell a trusted adult
All freshman take part in a classroom lesson and voluntary depression screening are also administered during the school year. In order for a student to be screened a parent or guardian must fill out a consent form (click file at bottom of the page to download).
Please contact any counselor if a student is in need of social/emotional support. During times when school is not in session, students and parents are encouraged to call the Foundation 2 Crisis Line- 319-362-2174 or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline- 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
