Summer Opportunities – High School

Most colleges and universities have summer programs for high school students. Check their websites to see if a school of your interest has a program for you. Here are some to consider.


University of Iowa: Belin-Blank Center

Our summer programs take you on a deep dive into a topic of your choice with other bright kids like you. We offer a wide range of rigorous classes to choose from, and most importantly, they are lots of fun! Programs include commuter and residential options for students in grades 2-11 in areas such as science, technology, math, art, writing, and leadership. They take place on the University of Iowa campus, giving you access to valuable university-level resources and experts. Participation in a school’s gifted program is not required.

This program offers several opportunities. This is the premiere language and cultural immersion program in the U.S is located in Moorhead, MN.

US Military Academy Annual Summer Leaders Experience

This program provides outstanding high school junior the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the academic, physical and leadership development programs at a service academy featuring small classes, a caring faculty, professional career preparation and a foundation for future graduate study. About 500 11th graders will be invited to each session. Students must be in the top fifth of their high school class, pursue a college preparatory curriculum, have strong PSAT scores, have demonstrated leadership potential by participation, election/selection to office and honors earned in extracurricular and organized athletic activities.

US Military Academy Summer Leaders Seminar

Missouri University of Science and Technology Nuclear Engineering Camp

This is a one week introduction to Nuclear Engineering for high school juniors, seniors, and college freshmen. Camp will include tours, focus groups, and experiments.
