Youth Art Month Awards
The Linn-Mar High School Art Department is proud to help celebrate March as Youth Art Month (YAM). Art Educators of Iowa along with the Iowa Arts Council organized two art shows that feature k-12 student artwork from across the state of Iowa and are showcased in two locations in Des Moines, Iowa.
The first art exhibit is known as the Governor’s Show where the top artwork from Iowa’s k-12 public education is on display in the Governor’s office at the Iowa Capitol Building in Des Moines, Iowa. Of the 22 works on display, we are proud to announce that Benjamin Tentinger’s artwork titled “Safe” and Ella Frale’s artwork titled “ Toys Aren’t Us” were selected to be part of the exhibit. Benjamin and Ella will get to tour the state capitol building, meet Governor Kim Reynolds, and receive an award on March 22nd.
The second Statewide YAM art exhibit is currently on display at Jordan Creek Mall in West Des Moines. This exhibit features 99 student artworks from across the state of Iowa. We would like to congratulate four Linn-Mar students for making it into the show; Mya Recker for her landscape watercolor painting titled “Lonely Ranch”, Shea Peddicord for her still life tempera painting, Raelyn FitzGerald for her mixed media art piece titled “Table for Two” and Alyssa Newport for her mixed media art piece titled “All Fun and Games”. An awards ceremony including a guest speaker will take place on Saturday, March 23 at 1 pm in the Jordan Creek Mall, friends and family are welcome to attend.
The Linn-Mar High School Art Department would like to congratulate Benjamin, Ella, Mya, Shea, Raelyn, and Alyssa for their accomplishments and are proud that they get to represent our school within the state of Iowa for Youth Art Month.
