Welcome Back Assembly Kicks Off School Year
Welcome back Linn-Mar!
Teachers and staff gathered in the auditorium for the Staff Welcome Back Assembly as the district prepares for its 70th school year.
During the event, staff heard from School Board President Sondra Nelson, Superintendent Shannon Bisgard, Associate Superintendent Nathan Wear and Debra Barry.
The Superintendent provided an overview of the previous school year and gave staff a glimpse of what is to come. The main presentation focused on the district’s Strategic Plan. Associate Superintendent Wear gave an overview of the Student Success portion of the plan while the Superintendent discussed other areas which included Future Focused, Destination Linn-Mar, and Climate and Culture.
Additionally, the Superintendent asked staff to do two things during the school year. The first was to have a passion for what you do. “If you serve with a passion for what you do, desire to learn more, have that growth mindset of how can you be professional, and look for ways you can improve, you will be doing your job serving with passion.”
To conclude, the Superintendent said the other piece is to have compassion. “The first priority is to be compassionate for those you serve and those you work with.”
