Three Linn-Mar Bands Selected as IBA Conference Honor Bands
Three of Linn-Mar’s bands have been selected as Honor Bands at the 98th Annual Iowa Bandmasters Association Conference in Des Moines. The Hazel Point 6th Grade Band (Stephanie Nuss, Director) has been selected as the Elementary Concert Band, the LMHS Wind Ensemble (Aaron Nuss, Director) has been selected as the 4A High School Concert Band, and the LMHS Colton Center Jazz Ensemble (Jennifer Tiede, Director) has been selected as the High School Jazz Band. Bands are chosen based on recorded auditions of the current year’s band and selected by directors representing all six IBA districts, all levels of teaching, and all classifications of high school size.
This is the highest honor a band in Iowa can achieve, as there is one 4A concert band, one high school jazz band, and one elementary band selected to perform each year. This is the first time in school history that a LMHS jazz band has been selected for this honor. This is the 29th time at least one Linn-Mar band has been selected to perform and the second time three Linn-Mar bands were selected to perform at the same conference. Congratulations to these ensembles for this opportunity and recognition.
All of these concerts are free and open to the public. Concert details are below:
