Summer Construction Projects are Underway
Construction contractors, District Operations and Maintenance workers, Custodial crews and the Technology team are in the midst of some major summer projects, as they prepare all the Linn-Mar buildings for the new school year.
At Bowman Woods, Indian Creek and Wilkins, students and staff will notice improvements to a total of 27 restrooms. New interior and exterior doors and drinking fountains are also being installed in the three buildings.
Starting this fall, all the 5th graders at Indian Creek will be taught in portable buildings, as a second structure is placed in front of the school. The front driveway was widened to improve bus access.
At Indian Creek, the clocks, running since 1961, are being replaced to keep the entire building operating at the same time. Electrical panels serving the building are also being updated.
Bowman Woods and Wilkins are welcoming technology upgrades, with new wiring and switching equipment.
The hallways will have a unified look at Bowman Woods as the tile is replaced in the central part of the building.
Throughout the district, from the light fixtures to the furniture, all the rooms are undergoing their summer “deep cleaning”.
Walls are being painted, carpets are being shampooed and the tiled areas are receiving fresh coats of wax.
It will all be ready for the first day of classes. For Kindergarten through 9th grade students it’s Thursday, August 23rd. Classes for 10th through 12th grade start Friday, August 24th.
