Students Team Up with MEDCO on Home Renovation Project

Improving our community, while giving students the opportunity to learn valuable home renovation skills.

That’s the goal of a pilot project called Marion Community Build.  It will benefit Linn-Mar and Marion high school students and the city of Marion.

MEDCO, the Marion Economic Development Corporation, purchased the home in the 300 block of 8th avenue in Marion for $60,000.

Students from the two schools are working together to remodel the home during the upcoming months, and prepare it for sale in the spring.

If all goes as planned, the group will use the proceeds from the sale to purchase another home for next year’s students.
