Students Discover Importance of Skilled Trades from Mike Rowe
A group of 19 Linn-Mar High School students were among 278 young people from across the state who traveled to the state capitol. They learned about the future of skilled trades jobs across the U.S. from one of the sector’s most famous advocates.
Mike Rowe is the Executive Producer and Host of the hit TV series “Dirty Jobs”. The program showcases the work of skilled tradesmen and women who keep the world running. Mr. Rowe has even appeared in front of the United States Congress on multiple occasions to offer testimony on the importance of keeping these jobs in our country.
The event took place at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. The students and their instructors also heard from Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, before Mike Rowe took the stage.
The event was coordinated in cooperation with the Greater Cedar Rapids Home Builders and the Des Moines Home Builders Association.
