Stories Alive! Author Visit Excites Young Linn-Mar Writers
Stories Alive! is a treasured literacy enrichment program held each year in our seven elementary schools. With a rich 27-year history at Linn-Mar, the Linn-Mar Foundation — in conjunction with community partner Hills Bank & Trust — hosts an author/illustrator for a week-long series. Authors engage and encourage our young readers and writers with their journey to becoming an author.
The goal of the Stories Alive! literacy program is to further ignite and en hance the love of reading and writing for our young learners.
This week, Katherine Hannigan visited our elementary schools to talk about how she became a children’s author at 40! Hannigan encouraged our students to “follow the fun” in their writing, don’t worry about it being perfect, read, read, read and don’t forget to believe in yourself as a great writer.
Thank you to the Linn-Mar Foundation and Hills Bank & Trust for believing in our students and supporting literacy in our schools.
