State Speech Competition at LMHS – A Huge Success!
Our Contest Speech Team would like to thank all the volunteers who came together from nearly every Linn-Mar Attendance Center on Saturday. They proudly shared their Linn-Mar hospitality with the 82 southeast Iowa schools that arrived at our High School to compete in the Iowa High School State Speech Association (IHSSA) Large Group Contest.
The team of nearly 200 volunteers also included dedicated people from the throughout the community.
For the Linn-Mar Speech Team, of the 13 events we took to state, six received top honors from a trio of judges. They include performances in the areas of Choral Reading, Varsity Ensemble Acting, Group Mime, Radio Broadcasting-KSRN, Television News and Freshman Ensemble Acting.
Four groups, Reader’s Theatre, Group Improvisation, Radio Broadcasting-KZOM and Musical Theatre, were given top honors from two of the three judges.
Congratulations to Choral Reading, Varsity and Freshman Ensemble Acting and Group Mime on being chosen to perform at the All-State Speech Festival in Ames February 17th!
The Linn-Mar Speech Coaches were especially proud of our students who accomplished these victories, while also serving as hosts for the state event.
The coaches would also like to thank our visiting schools for their kind words about our volunteer team’s hospitality and our high school facilities.
We ARE Linn-Mar!
