Orchestra Students Perform in Metro Festival
Congratulations to the over 160 Linn-Mar 6th through 12th grade students who were selected and performed in the 2024 Metropolitan Orchestra Festival at the Paramount Theatre, in downtown Cedar Rapids. Our Linn-Mar Orchestra students had the honor of performing alongside other talented and dedicated musicians from Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and Mt. Vernon.
In addition, Kristine Schamberger who teaches at Hazel Point Intermediate had the honor of serving as guest director of the 6th grade honor orchestra, along with Katie Vail instructor at Excelsior Middle School, who was the guest director for the 8th grade honor orchestra. All five orchestras within the festival worked with local area directors including Mr. Phil Peters– Retired West Des Moines Valley Orchestra Director and current Director of the Central College Community Orchestra.
Over its 42-year history, the Metropolitan Orchestra Festival is and has been, a collaborative effort between local area schools and the greater metropolitan community, providing an opportunity for orchestra students to share their talents and dedication to making music together.
