Oak Ridge Students Donate to Cancer Center
For this semester’s community service project, the Oak Ridge Junior ALO group (Accountability, Leadership, Opportunity), created care packages for cancer patients at the Helen G. Nassif Community Cancer Center.
With help from the entire Oak Ridge community, the 8th Grade officers of Junior ALO dropped off 38 care packages to the center.
The students were able to provide 38 journals, 32 adult coloring books and word search books, 548 colored pencils, 153 bottles of lotion, 20 scarves, 177 tubes of lip balm, 940 pieces of candy and 92 packages of gum.
ALO is a multicultural student leadership group focusing on promoting a positive community among Linn-Mar students from diverse backgrounds.
Congratulations to all who helped out and special thanks to counselors Mrs. Deahl and Mrs. Wanda who helped coordinate the effort.
