Novak’s Walker Named 2018 Linn County Educator of the Year

Jenn Walker, a 4th and 5th grade Choral Director at Novak Elementary will receive the 2018 Linn County Educator of the Year Award on Tuesday, May 8 at a reception celebrating Teacher Appreciation Day.

Jenn has served as a Model Teacher at Novak Elementary since the Linn Mar Teacher Leader System was first implemented four years ago. Her Novak choir was selected for the Iowa Choral Directors Association “Choral Showcase” and is the only elementary choir chosen to participate alongside high school and college choral groups.

Jenn was chosen to receive the Educator of the Year Award by peer representatives from Linn County area education associations. This ad hoc group meets each year to select an award recipient who best represents the profession’s mission to promote quality public education by placing students at the center.

Awards will be given at a reception sponsored by Farmers State Bank and held at the Kirkwood Center for Continuing Education on Tuesday, May 8.
