New Principal at Westfield
The Linn-Mar Community School District is proud to announce Scott Fillner as the new principal at Westfield Elementary.
Mr. Fillner been a part of the Linn-Mar team since 2015 serving as a fourth-grade teacher, Innovation Coach, and Instructional Coach. He has served as a building administrator at multiple schools in the Linn-Mar District through the Administrative Internship program. He holds an Advanced Studies Certificate in Educational Administration from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
He began his teaching career in 1999 in Wisconsin and worked in the College Community School District before coming to Linn-Mar.
“I have been fortunate to be a part of the Linn-Mar community for many years as an educator and parent. I am thrilled to be joining the Westfield family, and I look forward to being a part of the great things that are happening there,” said Fillner.
Associate Superintendent Bob Read added, “Scott has served in different roles while at Linn-Mar and is a strong instructional leader. He is student focused and will build positive relationships with the Westfield staff and community.”
The district wishes to thank outgoing principal Theresa Kirkman for her work at Westfield. She has accepted a similar position with the Iowa City schools to be closer to her family.
Mr. Fillner’s appointment was approved by the Linn-Mar Board of Directors at the June 12th meeting. He will begin his new role in July.
