New Leader Named – LM Student Services
The Linn-Mar Community School District has named Melissa Tandy as its new Executive Director of Student Services.
She will succeed Leisa Breitfelder who was recently named Superintendent of Schools for the Central City and North Linn School Districts.
“I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to serve the students, families, staff, and Linn-Mar community as the Executive Director of Student Services. I look forward to collaborating and working each day to ensure the best for every learner in our district,” said Tandy.
In making the announcement, Linn-Mar Superintendent Shannon Bisgard said, “Melissa has been an integral part of this team for the last two years. I know she will work closely with Leisa Breitfelder to ensure a smooth transition of the important work the Student Services department provides our students. Melissa’s experience, work ethic, and leadership skills make her an ideal candidate to serve the students of Linn-Mar.”
Tandy has served as the Associate Director of Student Services at Linn-Mar for the past two years. Prior to that, she held various Special Education leadership and consulting roles with Iowa Area Education Agencies and the Iowa Department of Education. Tandy holds a Master of Educational Administration from Saint Ambrose University. She began her teaching career as a Special Education instructor, a position she held for 17 years.
Tandy will officially assume her new duties on July 1st, pending board approval.
