National School Bus Safety Week
In recognition of National School Bus Safety Week, this week Linn-Mar students and bus drivers have been practicing school bus evacuation drills to ensure they are prepared in case of any emergencies. In addition to setting aside time this week to refocus on student and staff safety, the district also wants to remind community drivers of important school bus guidelines.
- When a school bus is slowing down or stopping, watch for children crossing the street.
- Yellow flashing lights indicate the bus is about to load or unload students; drivers should slow down and prepare to stop.
- If a bus has red flashing lights and an extended stop arm, drivers must stop and wait until the lights stop flashing and the stop arm is withdrawn before proceeding.
Linn-Mar encourages everyone to follow these safety tips to ensure a safe environment for all students. For more information and school bus safety tips, visit Linn-Mar’s transportation page.
