Middle School Mathletes Advance to State!

Oak Ridge and Excelsior MathCounts teams participated at the Cedar Rapids MathCounts Chapter Competition last Saturday.  Teams from around the metro area took part in the event.

The Oak Ridge and Excelsior teams took first and second place, respectively, and advanced to state.

In addition, the top ten mathletes participated in the Countdown Round, which included five mathletes from Oak Ridge and three mathletes from Excelsior.  At the end of this round, three Oak Ridge mathletes took the top three spots.

Kudos to Excelsior students Aadarsh Kumar, fourth place; Shourya Sing, sixth place; and Nahom Fikreselassi, seventh place in the countdown round!

Congratulations to Oak Ridge students David Ammons, first place;  Nikhil Anand, second place; and Janet Weng who took third.
