LMHS Student Named Presidential Scholars Semifinalist
Linn-Mar Senior Akash Gururaja has been selected as one of 621 semifinalists to advance to the final round of the 2019 U.S. Presidential Scholars Competition.
From the nearly 3.6 million graduating high school seniors in the U.S., just over 5,200 students were identified as candidates in the program. The Presidential Scholars Program selects students on the basis of broad academic achievement.
Later this spring, the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars will review the applications of the 621 semifinalists and select up to 161 U.S. Presidential Scholars to be recognized in Washington, DC, in June. The program was established in 1964 to recognize and honor some of our nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors.
Congratulations and good luck, Akash!
