LMHS Clubs Collect Donations for LM Food Pantry

Food February is here! After months of planning, members of several LMHS clubs (Student Council, FFA, Red Cross Club, Key Club, Robotics, LM buddies, SODA, LMTV) are hosting a unified club project to gather donations and funds to support the LMHS Pride Food Pantry.

The pantry serves many students at the high school who have food insecurities at home. The pantry allows students the opportunity to take food home, discretely, without worrying about where their next meal is coming from. “1 out of four kids in this community receive their only meal of the day at school. 15% of Americans suffer food insecurity.”

As you can imagine, the pantry is used heavily and is in dire need of restocking! Food February is a month-long project with three different fulfillment opportunities:

Feb 3-14 Fill The Cart Challenge
Competition between Grades based on the weight of food collected. Winning Grade will get a $1 discount on WPA Dance Tickets.

Feb 18-21 Classroom Money Collection Challenge
Competition between classrooms based on monetary donations. Winning Classroom (5th period/3rd blk) will win a Pizza Party AND a coupon to get a $1 discount on WPA Tickets.

Feb 24-28 WPA Dance Week
Students can bring in food items for a $1 discount to the WPA Dance.

We are excited to see the entire school help to fill our very own pantry and make an impact on our community! And we ask all staff to help out – whether in the form of encouraging students to participate as they are able or by personally helping with donations as you are able to.
