Linn-Mar Student Receives Gold Key in Scholastic Art and Writing Competition
The Linn-Mar High School Art Department is proud to announce that senior Emma Larson has received a Gold Key award in the Scholastic Art and Writing regional competition for her self-portrait titled “Colors Beyond the Naked Eye.”
Founded in 1923, the Scholastic Art and Writing Organization runs the longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens across the United States. The competition begins at the regional level, where students can earn Gold Key, Silver Key, or Honorable Mention awards. Larson’s Gold Key award now qualifies her to compete at the national level, with national winners to be announced on March 26, 2025.
Larson will be honored on March 8th at the Belin-Blank Center at the University of Iowa in Iowa City for her outstanding achievement. Congratulations to Emma on this impressive recognition and best of luck in the national competition!
Linn-Mar Students Earn Honorable Mention in Corridor Jazz Project
The Linn-Mar High School Art Department would also like to congratulate junior Gavin Hatcher and senior Mya Furnish for receiving Honorable Mention for their CD cover designs in the Corridor Jazz Project.
The Corridor Jazz Project features the top high school jazz bands from Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Marion, and surrounding areas. First-place and Honorable Mention artworks will be displayed during the two Corridor Jazz Concerts: one at the Paramount Theatre in Cedar Rapids on March 10th, and the other at Voxman Hall of Music at the University of Iowa in Iowa City on March 11th.
Congratulations to Gavin and Mya for their creative accomplishments!
