Mr. Axeen’s contract was approved by Linn-Mar’s Board of Education during their regular meeting June 12, 2017. He will assume his duties on July 1.

He earned his Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from the University or Northern Iowa in 2006. “As a math teacher at Linn-Mar High School, I became interested in getting my degree in educational administration because of the support I received from the high school administrators. I hope to provide the same support to the staff at Oak Ridge Middle School,” Axeen said. “My wife is an English teacher at Linn-Mar High School and my three children all attend Linn-Mar schools. We are all proud to be a part of this district.”

He became High School Dean of Students in 2007, and in 2009 was named Associate Principal at Oak Ridge Middle School. “As a member of the Oak Ridge staff for the past eight years, I am very excited about being named principal,” he said. Axeen added, “The work that we have accomplished in the past will lead to an exciting future with a high focus on students.”
Linn-Mar Superintendent Dr. Quintin Shepherd, “I am thrilled for the students, their families, and the staff at Oak Ridge as Mr. Axeen moves into the role of Principal. We are pleased anytime we are able to recognize and retain great leadership from within the Linn-Mar Pride!”
