Linn-Mar Names New Athletic Director

We are pleased to announce that Tonya Moe has been selected as the new Athletic Director at Linn-Mar High School.

Tonya MoeMs. Moe has been a member of our high school team for over 15 years. She began as a health instructor in 2006 and was named Associate Athletic Director in 2009. She will replace David Brown, who has served as Athletic Director at Linn-Mar for the past six years. Tonya will begin her new role in mid-March, pending board approval.

“I am extremely grateful and excited to be named Linn-Mar Athletic Director. During my time here I have developed a great sense of pride for our student-athletes, our coaches, and our athletic programs. My goal is to continue to learn and lead Linn-Mar athletics through providing positive opportunities for our student-athletes, ensuring our coaches are great leaders/role models, and communicating consistently with administrators, parents, and the community as our district continues to grow. I want to thank Linn-Mar for allowing me this opportunity. Go Lions!”, said Moe.

Linn-Mar High School Principal Dr. Jeff Gustason added, “We have been fortunate for years to have someone of Tonya’s caliber in the role of Associate Athletic Director. She has earned this opportunity to lead the Linn-Mar High School athletic program. Tonya clearly understands the positive, impactful role athletic opportunities can have for students, and she understands how to operate a large program in a large high school. More importantly, Tonya teamed closely with David Brown to create meaningful opportunities for growth for each participant no matter their grade or skill level. Tonya is well respected by her peers within the Mississippi Valley Conference (MVC) and throughout the state.”

Mr. Brown has accepted a position with Collins Aerospace. “I appreciate the opportunity given to me by Dr. Gustason to lead the Athletics Department at Linn-Mar High School. His leadership, alongside the support of Superintendent Bisgard, has been of the highest quality as we have looked to improve our programming,” said Brown.

Gustason added, “David Brown has done a lot of good work running our athletic program and I have personally enjoyed working with him. I respect his decision to move into a new and completely different vocation. I am happy that he has found an opportunity that he is excited about starting. David’s work with our coaches, at all levels, will continue to have a positive impact after he leaves Linn-Mar.”

The district wishes Mr. Brown success in his new journey and congratulates Ms. Moe on her new role with Linn-Mar Athletics.
