L-M 6th Graders Impress Band Directors Across the State
The 6th-grade Concert Band from Boulder Peak Intermediate was warmly welcomed by attendees at the Iowa Bandmasters Association’s 96th Annual Conference. The event was held in Des Moines.
The band, under the direction of Amy Kraeplin, was notified earlier this year that it was selected to perform at the event.
It is the highest honor a band can receive in the state of Iowa. Each year schools from around the state submit audition recordings for consideration, and only one elementary level (5th and/or 6th grade) band is chosen to perform at this prestigious event attended by nearly every elementary, middle school, high school, and college band director in the state.
The Boulder Peak 6th graders are one of six school bands from across the state that performed at the conference. It is the second year in a row that Linn-Mar musicians were invited to perform at the event.
