Karla Ries Named Elementary Director of Teaching and Learning

Linn-Mar is proud to welcome Karla Ries as the district’s new Elementary Director of Teaching and Learning.

Ms. Ries comes to us from the Cedar Rapids Community School District, where she held various roles in Instructional Services.

In announcing the appointment, Linn-Mar Superintendent Shannon Bisgard said “I am excited to have Karla join our leadership group and I am confident that she will be a great addition to an already outstanding team”.

Prior to her work with the Cedar Rapids district, Ms. Ries was a School Improvement Consultant for the Grant Wood Area Education Agency.

She began her career as a 3rd and 5th grade teacher, and as a school counselor, in the Winterset and Midland Community School Districts.

She replaces Ms. Kelly Kretschmar who is the new principal at Indian Creek Elementary, replacing Marilee McConnell who announced her retirement earlier this year.
