Iowa Assessments Scheduled for Week of April 10
Dear Linn-Mar High School Parents/Guardians,
All Linn-Mar High School students in grades 9, 10 and 11 will be taking the Iowa Assessments from April 10-14. NWEA testing in reading and Mathematics will also be given to 10th grade students. We will administer these exams from 9:45-11:15 a.m. each day of the week.
The adjusted schedule can be found below and will be published in the April-May issue of the Lion Update.
The Iowa Assessment is required of all Linn-Mar High School students in grades 9, 10 and 11. The NWEA is also required for all students in grade 10. Currently, these assessments are used to determine if our school is achieving Adequate Yearly
Progress (AYP) in the areas of reading and mathematics. Students absent during the week will be required to make up any missed exams.
Please help ensure your student(s) do their best on the Iowa Assessments/NWEA. Our goal is to utilize these exams to accurately determine the effectiveness of our academic program, to help identify students in need of additional academic support, and to provide accurate college/career readiness information for you and your
student(s). Exam results are used as one measure in analyzing our curriculum.
Students in grade 12 will not be scheduled during the testing period (9:45-11:15 a.m.) during the week. Seniors may either leave the building during testingĀ or work quietly in designated areas. Seniors leaving the building during the testing period are to wait either in the South Commons or outside of Door #3 until the 11:15 a.m. bell.
We appreciate your help in making sure your student is prepared to do theirĀ best on the Iowa Assessment and to give their best effort on course work throughout the school year.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey M. Gustason
Principal
