Homecoming Parade Plans: Rain or Shine

We really need the rain across Linn-Mar land, but we really don’t need rain on our parade.
Weather permitting, here is the schedule for Thursday night’s Homecoming activities.

Homecoming Parade 5:15 PM. Starts and ends in the south parking lot at the high school.
The parade goes north on 10th Street, west on Barrington Parkway, south on 3rd Street and east on 29th Avenue and north on 10th street back to the High School.

Coronation of the Homecoming King and Queen (approximately 6:00 PM)
At Linn-Mar Stadium unless rainy weather forces us indoors. (See below)

Powderpuff Game 7:00 PM
Junior and Senior girls battle for bragging rights on the gridiron at Linn-Mar Stadium.

In the event of adverse weather, here are the backup plans for Thursday night’s activities.

If the weather is clearly going to be bad in the evening:
We will cancel the Parade and PowderPuff game by 2:30 PM. The Coronation will be held in the High School Auditorium at  6 PM. Cancelation communication to group sponsors will be made by email.

If the weather forecast indicates only the possibility of heavy or moderate rain:
A cancellation decision will not be made until 5:00 PM. At that point, the decision will be to either proceed as scheduled, delay (no more than 45 minutes), or cancel.

If the Parade is canceled: The PowderPuff game will also be canceled and the Coronation will be held in the High School Auditorium at 6 PM.

If the weather forecast indicates light rain or drizzle:
The Parade, Coronation, and PowderPuff game will proceed as scheduled.
The Parade, Coronation, and PowderPuff game will happen on Thursday or be canceled. Postponement to later in the week is not possible.

We will keep our fingers crossed that Thursday afternoon will be a perfect day for a parade.
