Recognitions
Newly appointed Board Member Jim Green was introduced. Also, Indian Creek Elementary was recognized for their use of technology in the classroom. Teachers have been using Seesaw technology to connect students with family members overseas and across the US. Kudos to Indian Creek for modeling #LMConnections!
2015-16 CAFR
A representative from Nolte, Cornman, & Johnson reviewed the 2015-16 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report sharing an overall picture of the budget and some reminders and recommendations for specific items required.
New Board/Policy Website
The new board/policy website was debuted by Angie Morrison, Business Manager and Board Secretary. A highlight of the new site is the “search” capability. Check out the new board/policy website today!
The Promise of Iowa
The Board voted to join The Promise of Iowa Campaign for Public Education. The Board signed The Promise of Iowa pledge to show their support for strengthening investments in Iowa public schools and to work together with the Iowa Association of School Boards to raise public awareness and rally citizen support for investments in public education. Some Items Approved by the Board
At-Risk/Dropout Prevention Application
This will allow for additional mentoring and academic support including the addition of a .5 teacher and .5 assistant for the Compass Alternative High School program. It will also allow for additional Mercy Family Counseling services for students and families.
2017-18 District Calendar
Next year’s calendar is very similar to the current school year calendar. The main difference is a back-to-back professional development event in October, wherein a guest presenter is scheduled to meet with certified staff. The dates are October 26-27; which is a Thursday/Friday. School will not be in session for students these two days.
Approval of Firm for Bond Planning Services
The Board approved OPN as the architect firm to provide capital bond planning services in relation to the district restructuring process.

The Board congratulated Susan Knight, Nutrition Services Manager, for her upcoming retirement on January 31st!
