Groundbreaking Ceremonies Held for Intermediate Schools
Ceremonial shovels broke ground at the sites for Hazel Point and Boulder Peak Intermediate marking the official start of construction for the Linn-Mar Community School District’s newest buildings!
Members of the Board of Education and Superintendent Shannon Bisgard were joined by Marion Mayor Nick AbouAssaly, Marion Chamber of Commerce ambassadors, and several other dignitaries who took part in the special event.
Construction is made possible thanks to voters who approved a $55 million bond referendum in September 2018.
Bowman Woods, Echo Hill, and Westfield Elementary will feed into Hazel Point Intermediate. Students from Indian Creek, Linn Grove, Novak, and Wilkins will attend Boulder Peak Intermediate.
Hazel Point will be located adjacent to Echo Hill Elementary at 453 Echo Hill Road. Boulder Peak will be located at 3920 35th Avenue. Chad Buchholz will serve as principal at Hazel Point while Dan Ludwig will oversee Boulder Peak.
The 5th-6th grade intermediate schools will house approximately 800 students and have 32 general education classrooms.
The schools are scheduled to open for the 2020-21 school year.
The district is very excited to begin this new chapter for Linn-Mar as we continue to Inspire Learning, Unlock Potential and Empower Achievement.
