Final Class Day for L-M Students is Now June 4th

Linn-Mar Families,

We want to thank everyone for being patient and understanding as we have worked our way through this incredibly unique school year.

From dealing with unprecedented derecho damage throughout our community and to our schools, to navigating through the constant challenge of teaching and learning in the midst of a pandemic, this has been a school year unlike any other.

Despite all of these obstacles, I could not be more proud of how the Linn-Mar community, students, parents, staff, and board members, have stepped up to each and every challenge to make this a successful school year.

As a result of the significant damage caused by the derecho, the district applied for an attendance waiver from the Iowa Department of Education to excuse the 14 days we lost. The waiver was approved earlier this year, but we did not initially make any adjustments, as we assessed how snow days would impact our calendar and how our students met our education goals. The district is now making use of the waiver to acknowledge the school year’s challenges and get started on the numerous permanent repair projects as a result of the derecho damage.

The final day for students will now be Friday, June 4th. This day will be a two-hour early dismissal.  Due to the early out, the last day for Little Lions Preschool will be Thursday, June 3rd.

I hope everyone is able to enjoy their summer and get some much-needed rest and quality family time. We are looking forward to seeing everyone back on the first day of school on August 23rd, 2021!
