Digital Duo

We want to give a shout-out to Junior Varun Pradeep and Sophomore Erich Nguyen. They have been working with the Teaching and Learning Department to transfer Linn-Mar’s hard copy, PDF version of the High School Program of Studies to a searchable digital, web-based format.

“Their work did not involve manually typing lines of text into text blocks on webpages, but rather they built an automated process to create webpages from the hardcopy text, with zero manual input.” said Mark Hutcheson, Director of High School Teaching and Learning.  “It’s amazing coding work, and it was done on a 100% volunteer basis.”

When asked about the process, Erich was looking to the future for all his classmates. “This new digital program of studies will help students at Linn-Mar High School manage their course schedules more efficiently and intuitively, making college and career planning a breeze.” Varun reflected on the entire experience.“This project took way more time than I first thought, but I couldn’t be prouder of the final product.”

The students described their work as a passion project. They say they were fueled by their desire to spread the magic of STEM to their peers.
