Bullying Prevention Efforts Recognized Nationally
Linn-Mar administrators have learned that our district has earned a Ford Motor Fund Bullying Prevention Award.
Student Assistance Counselor Stacia Walker first learned about the award through the International Bullying Prevention Association. As part of the application process, Ms. Walker was asked to describe the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, which is widely used at Linn-Mar.
The program is designed to improve peer relations and make schools safer, more positive places for students to learn and develop. Goals of the program include reducing existing bullying problems among students, preventing the development of new bullying problems, and achieving better peer relations at school.
Members of the Student Assistance Team will accept the award at this year’s International Bullying Prevention Conference. The award comes with a check for five thousand dollars. The money will be used to support the future work of Olweus here at Linn-Mar.
Congratulations, Student Assistance Team!
