Boys Swim Team Named Academic-All Americans
The Linn-Mar Boys Swim Team has been named Academic-All Americans by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association of America (NISCA).
The team earned a gold level with a team GPA above 3.75. “The team award is very impressive,” said Coach Tom Belin, “last year, there were only 20 school swim teams in the U.S. that achieved that level.”
Four individuals, Donald Fejfar (4.19), Carter Lorenz (4.31), Matthew Mather (3.90), and Hogan Myers (3.89) were also named as Academic All-Americans by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association of America (NISCA).
Over 344,755 students are involved in aquatics at the high school level in over 16,294 programs for boys’ and girls’ programs in the nation.
The team and individuals will be recognized with a certificate noting their accomplishment.
Academic All-American individual award criteria are as follows:
- Senior
- Varsity Letter Winner
- Cumulative GPA greater than 3.75
Team Scholar Award criteria:
- Varsity Team
- Cumulative GPA for each swimmer with a maximum 4.0 (anyone over 4.0 is rolled back to 4.0)
- Average of team members
- Bronze 3.2, Silver 3.5, Gold 3.75
- Linn-Mar had a 3.787 GPA based on 13 swimmers
