Band Instructors Honored

Each year, The Northeast Iowa Bandmasters Association (NEIBA) selects recipients for the Phillip Sehmann Excellence in Teaching Award. The award is presented to one elementary, middle, and high school director. It recognizes years of service in teaching instrumental music, service to NEIBA and to the Iowa Bandmasters Association (IBA), and the ability to consistently provide quality education to students and produce a quality band program at the honored level.

This year, two Linn-Mar educators were recognized. David Anderson received the Phillip Sehmann Excellence in Teaching Award at the elementary level and Dan Terrell received the Phillip Sehmann Excellence in Teaching Award at the high school level. The awards were presented Saturday, December 3rd at the annual NEIBA Luncheon in Oelwein. This event corresponded with the NEIBA Honor Band Festival. The recipients were also recognized at the Honor Band concerts.

We are so fortunate to have such an excellent team of educators and especially proud to have David and Dan receive this recognition from NEIBA.
