Assistant Football Coach of the Year
Congratulations to Varsity Assistant Football Coach Mike Shipley. He has been named Class 5A Assistant Coach of the Year by the Iowa Football Coaches Association (IFBCA). Team supporters call Shipley “one of the most selfless coaches we have; his desire to see young men and women become the best version of themselves is what makes him such a valuable mentor to our players.”
Linn-Mar Head Varsity Football Coach Tim Lovell nominated Shipley for the award and said, “Mike is an invaluable resource for all things Linn-Mar. He supports Football, Baseball, and many district-related items. He is a trusted friend, colleague, and coach to many athletes. What separates Coach Shipley is his honesty and passion. He is very deserving of this award. It is a tribute to his lifelong commitment to Linn-Mar Community Schools. I am proud to have him on our staff!”
The IFBCA Assistant Football Coach of the Year Award is presented yearly to two coaches from each class and two at-large. The recipients must have 7 years of experience as an assistant coach, and be actively coaching. The recipients are nominated by the Head Coach.
