3-Hour Early Dismissal Wed. & Thu.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This time of year is always exciting and we look forward to welcoming our students back to class!

For planning purposes, we want to provide the following information as far in advance as possible. Our school participates in the electrical interrupt program. This saves us thousands of dollars each year but requires us at times to reduce power in times of high use (generally over the summer). Due to the extreme heat this week, the district will likely be required to initiate a power interruption on our main campus. This includes the Aquatics Center, Excelsior, Indian Creek, Linn-Mar High School, and the Learning Resource Center. We are unable to provide alternative bus routes and need to release the entire student body.

The Linn-Mar Community School District will go with a 3-hour early dismissal on both Wednesday, August 23, 2023, and Thursday, August 24, 2023.

Intermediate and Middle Schools – Dismissal at 11:35
All Elementary Schools – Dismissal at 12:15
Linn-Mar High School – Dismissal at 1:00

All practices for activities and athletics will take place indoors and/or outdoors before 8:00 a.m. on these days. Other specifics will be communicated by administrators, coaches, or sponsors.

We plan to serve lunch and hold recess indoors. If possible, please send your student with a refillable water bottle. Hand-in-Hand Daycare will be closed after school as well.

Weather permitting, we are planning for a regular day on Friday.
