Maddie DeJong

An optimistic student leader who is brimming with school spirit! That’s what makes Linn-Mar Junior Maddie DeJong worthy of this month’s Linn-Mar Highlight.

Teachers from Wilkins Elementary, Excelsior Middle School and now Linn-Mar High School will attest to the positive leadership qualities Maddie has shown from a very early age. She is the kind of person that other students respect and want to follow.

Maddie sums it up like this,“I feel the more responsibilities you hold, the more you grow as a student… more importantly, you grow as a person.”

In addition to a full class schedule, Maddie takes an active role in many organizations on campus. They include Student Council, SODA, TRY, Lean On Me, Student Advisory, Model United Nations, Contest Speech, Show Choir and National Honor Society. She is also the  Assistant Station Manager for LMTV.

As for her future plans, Maddie is undecided. She is looking at various colleges and universities across our state.
