Jack Jorgensen
Mr. Jorgensen is an amazing choir teacher. Every single day we come to our first-period choir class, Mr. Jorgensen does not hesitate to make us happy as soon as we enter the room. With his unmatched sense of humor, he helps us shake off our morning blues and become mentally ready for the academic classes that follow choir. He is extremely good at making every student smile in his classroom.
Mr. Jorgensen is also incredibly patient. He takes the time to work with every student who has questions in class. Sometimes, he meets with students after class to clarify their doubts, which is incredibly helpful to those who receive assistance from him. Mr. Jorgensen truly makes it possible for every student and their talents to shine—not only as individuals or soloists but also as part of the choir ensemble. He helps newcomers become acquainted with choir and adapt to the new environment.
Mr. Jorgensen is also highly effective and collaborative as an educator and a teacher. In choir, he excels at teaching proper vocal techniques, using the voice not only as an asset but also as a musical instrument that everyone carries within themselves. He uses teaching strategies that work not just for a few special people in the choir room but for everyone. He also incorporates kinesthetic learning into his teaching, encouraging every student to move and stretch while learning important vocal techniques through purposeful movement.
As a director, he is an excellent conductor. His conducting movements are sharp and precise, which helps the choirs he directs stay together and maintain good form during performances. He also uses kinesthetic techniques, which make it easier for the choir to understand the type of sound, tone, or body language he wants us to use during the performance.
