Travel Tracker/ Transact Transportation Parent Portal:
The Linn Mar Community School District utilizes transportation routing software from Travel Tracker/ Transact. This software provides a “Parent Portal” , which is a secure access to various transportation functions:
- Access student busing information. At the start of each school year, new busing information is now released to the parent portal. We no longer mail out postcards with that information. Current busing information remains available through the school year in the parent portal.
- Register to receive and review communication on transportation issues. Transportation department information and updates are now communicated via text and/or email. Parents must be registered in the parent portal to receive these communications. It is important to note that the portal utilizes the students PRIMARY CONTACT information that is entered in Powerschool. Communication comes in the form of texts and/or email. Commonly communicated items include weather issues, bus delays, breakdowns, stop time changes, etc.
- Submit requests to add or remove transportation services.

For safety purposes, the Transportation Department no longer provides student transportation information over the phone. Use of the parent portal is the most secure method available to provide transportation information. Student transportation information is provided through the parent portal, with only the PRIMARY CONTACT email listed in Powerschool for the student.
Transportation Eligibility:
Transportation eligibility is based on a student’s residing home address. The district provides transportation for elementary and middle school students whose residing home address is more than two miles from their designated attendance center and high school students whose residing home address is more than three miles away. To view maps of our non-bused areas, click the link that applies to your child’s attendance center.

School Bus Safety Tips
Riding a Bus Other than the Student’s Assigned Bus:
Prior approval is needed from the Transportation Department if a student wants to ride on a route to which they are not assigned.
Without prior approval from the Transportation Department, students attempting to ride a route to which they are not assigned will be sent to their assigned bus or the school office.
To obtain prior approval, the parent/guardian of the student wishing to ride on a bus other than their own must contact the Transportation Department at 319-447-3030.
Transportation to Daycare:
The transportation of K-8 students to daycare provider sites is provided as a courtesy by the Linn-Mar Community School District under the following conditions:
- The student must be eligible for transportation services based on the student’s primary home address.
- The daycare provider must be located in a bused area within the student’s attendance center boundary.
- There is an available seat on the corresponding bus.
- The bus will not change its route or make additional stops to deliver the daycare student.
- Daycare transportation will be limited to ONE location, Monday through Friday.
- Changes/requests must be received at least two weeks in advance of the anticipated start date.
Due to bus capacity levels and route boundaries, there is no guarantee of a seat for daycare transportation.
Transportation to daycare arrangements are not carried over from year-to-year. This authorization must be completed each school year. Requests for daycare transportation arrangements must be submitted by Friday, 7-26-24 in order to be completed for the beginning of the 24-25 school year. After 7-26-24 the link below may still be used to request transportation to daycare for 24-25 , however, transportation arrangements for requests received after 7-26-24 will not be in place prior to the start of the school year.

Transportation Exception request:
Transportation exceptions allow students to ride to a location other than the students main address recorded in Powerschool (not to daycare). The bulk of these exceptions are allowed for custody/dual residency situations, in which a student may need to ride an alternate route to an alternate location on a regular basis. The transportation of students to alternate sites is provided as an exception to the students normal transportation and as a courtesy by the Linn-Mar Community School District under the following conditions:
- The student must be eligible for transportation services based on the student’s primary home address.
- The alternate site must be located in a bused area within the student’s attendance center boundary.
- There is an available seat on the corresponding bus.
- The bus will not change its route or make additional stops to deliver the student.
- Changes/requests must be received at least two weeks in advance of the anticipated start date.
Transportation exceptions are not carried over from year-to-year. This authorization must be completed each school year. Requests for transportation exception arrangements must be submitted by Friday, 7-26-24 in order to be completed for the beginning of the 24-25 school year. After 7-26-24 the link below may still be used to request transportation exceptions for 24-25 , however, transportation arrangements for requests received after 7-26-24 will not be in place prior to the start of the school year.
